Rose Bowl Aquatics Diving Team Awarded 2026 USA Diving Developmental Grant

Pasadena, CA – The Rose Bowl Aquatics Center (RBAC) is proud to announce that the Rose Bowl Aquatics Diving Team has been awarded the 2026 USA Diving Developmental Grant in continued support of the RBAC “Breaking Barriers Dive Grant” program. Building on a successful 2025 pilot year, this funding will allow the program to expand its reach and further increase equitable access to the sport of diving for youth across Los Angeles County.

In 2025, the “Breaking Barriers Dive Grant” served 91 students from communities throughout Los Angeles, introducing them to springboard diving through fully funded Learn to Dive opportunities. The program provided participants with USA Diving memberships, event registration, and a supported pathway into ongoing team participation—removing financial barriers that often limit access to specialized youth sports.

With the 2026 grant, RBAC will expand the program to serve even more families and deepen outreach to additional underrepresented and underserved communities. The program will once again host a series of “Learn to Dive Days,” offering fun, structured, 1½-hour introductory sessions designed to build confidence, body awareness, and foundational diving skills in a supportive team environment.

The Breaking Barriers Dive Grant is a collaborative effort between the Rose Bowl Aquatics Diving Team, the Rose Bowl Diving Boosters, the RBAC Financial Assistance Program, and its grantor: USA Diving. Together, these partners ensure 100% financial support for Learn to Dive programming and continued subsidies for athletes who transition into year-round team participation.

“We saw firsthand in 2025 how powerful access can be,” said Jean Luc Miralda, Head Diving Coach at RBAC. “Serving 91 students from across LA reaffirmed our belief that talent exists everywhere—opportunity does not. The 2026 grant allows us to expand our impact and intentionally reach even more communities that have historically been left out of sports like diving specially as we head into staging one of the most important diving competition in the world.”

The first 2026 Learn to Dive Day is anticipated for January  2026. For more information about the Rose Bowl Aquatics Diving Team or the Breaking Barriers Dive Grant, please contact Jean Luc Miralda at jmiralda@rosebowlaquatics.org
